Peace and Reconciliations

South Sudan has experienced decades of civil war before and after its independence. The successive instabilities in the country displaced around 2.4 million people internally and another 2.3 million sought refuge in neighboring countries.

The country experienced inter-communal violence and attacks by community-based armed groups that resulted into increased insecurity across some parts of the country. Cattle raiding and revenge killings, as well as increased resource competition between herders and farming communities triggered violent clashes that resulted into high civilian casualties.

Both local and international rights groups have documented serious violation of human rights and injustices.

Our organization has supported numerous community-based peacebuilding initiatives aimed reconciliation and the promotion of the rule of law, good governance and justice for healing and societal transformation.
