Distribution of Relief Items

When Sudan conflict erupted in April 2023and humanitarian worsening in Khartoum, an appeal was made to SSWU by South Sudanese refugees community leaders to help evacuate vulnerable refugees trapped in the capital. It was not fair to evacuate South Sudanese only at a time when Sudanese citizens were equally facing life-threatening situation. Since then SSWU has evacuated more than 11,000 South Sudanese and 3,500 Sudanese citizens (mostly women and children) from Khartoum to safe areas of Madeni, Damazine, Kosti and Rabek. In July 2023, following the death of children from measles outbreak in the 5 temporary refugees' settlements of Al-alegaya, Bosin, Al-ghanah, Kor-worol and Omsongur, we managed to carefully facilitate the evacuation 5,000 (children and their families) refugees out the camps to Jooda for onward movement to Renk, thus saving more death.
